CLINICAL HYPNOTHERAPY

Clinical hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique that uses hypnosis to help individuals achieve a state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility. This altered state of consciousness to facilitate positive changes in behaviour, thoughts, and feelings. It is employed to address a variety of issues, including:

  •  Anxiety and Stress Management: Helping clients develop relaxation techniques and reduce anxiety levels.
  •  Pain Management: Assisting in coping with chronic pain or pain during medical procedures.
  •  Behavioral Changes: Supporting the cessation of habits such as smoking, overeating, or nail-biting.
  •  Phobias and Fears: Reducing irrational fears and phobias.
  •  Sleep Disorders: Improving sleep patterns and addressing insomnia.
  •  Self-Confidence: Enhancing self-esteem and confidence.
  •  Emotional Issues: Addressing trauma, grief, or emotional blockages.

HOW IT'S DONE

During a hypnotherapy session, the therapist guides the patient into a trance-like state through relaxation techniques and focused attention. While in this state, the patient may be more open to suggestions that promote positive changes. It is important to note that hypnotherapy is typically used as an adjunct to other forms of therapy.

I have had the pleasure to have experience working with various groups of clients ranging from elite special forces personnel, pilots, deep sea divers, high performance athletes, corporate leaders, rural folks, families and many more.

It is interesting to discover that the body and mind are two separate entities and has to be treated accordingly with respect as they are interconnected affecting the functioning of each other.

Frequently Asked Questions ABOUT HYPNOTHERAPY

Hypnotherapy is a process where a qualified hypnotherapist uses hypnosis to guide you into a state of trance. In this state, you feel relaxed, and you shift your focus inward, away from the external world that you experience consciously every day.

Then the hypnotherapist makes suggestions that help you connect to your unconscious mind, to find and utilize natural resources deep within yourself that can help you achieve your goals or remove your problems.

A “Suggestion” is a statement given in hypnosis that something will happen. For example, a hypnotherapist may suggest that you feel completely relaxed as you think about a peaceful and pleasant scene. In a therapeutic context, a hypnotherapist uses suggestions as a tool to help you reprogramme your mind to respond in a healthier way to something.

You can view your hypnotherapist as being a navigator of your life journey. She is there to make suggestions for the best possible route for your next move. You can choose to accept her suggestions, or reject them if you want; after all, it’s your mind and you are always in control.

We will provide you with a simple registration form to fill in. This is for us to have an initial understanding of your presenting concerns and also for you to think about and get prepared for sharing what you would like help with.

Any information learned in therapy remains confidential unless it is necessary by law to disclose, or the disclosure is solely for the protection of the client’s safety as well as the therapist’s.

If you opt for online therapy, below are some useful tips prior to our session:

  • Choose a comfortable chair to sit on and ensure your back is well supported.
  • Ensure you have used the toilet prior to the therapy.
  • If possible, switch on your webcam throughout the session, and put on your headphone to ensure the best sound quality.
  • Leave your phone or any of your gadgets in silent mode, and make sure your surroundings are quiet and peaceful.
  • Inform those staying with you that you would like to be left undisturbed for the next hour or so.
  • If you are using a smartphone or tablet, ensure that it is fully charged, switching all the notifications to silent mode, or if you are using a notebook or desktop computer, have it connected to AC power.
  • Should the internet connection be interrupted, you can be assured that you will awaken quite naturally (just like when you are asleep, and you sense something needs your attention and you just wake up normally), and you re-establish the connection so that the session can continue.

Hypnosis feels like meditation – a gentle, deeply relaxed state. You are awake, you are still aware of your surroundings, you are still in control, and you will likely continue to have thoughts running through your mind (especially early on in your practice).

It’s important to understand that if you continue to have thoughts during hypnotherapy, you are still “doing it correctly”, just as you would be with meditation. There is no blackout state, no amnesia, no getting stuck, no truth serum. That’s all Hollywood and stage-show nonsense.

No. You’re still aware of what is going on around you, and you will be in control throughout. No hypnotherapist can make you do what you do not want to do, or reveal what you are not comfortable with revealing if you do not want to.

In fact, we have good experience working with clients who do not want to talk about their problems. In this case, we will direct the therapy to focus solely on the solutions.

The free initial consultation will take about 60 minutes.

Typically, a session will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. Each session may be short or long depending on the client’s needs and a number of other factors.

 60-minute initial consultation – FREE

*Rates will be given after 1st session
